New Year, New Coder. How to Plan Your Future in Software EngineeringJanuary 18th, 2022
So, a new year just landed, and you’ve made a resolution to learn coding. You've heard it has great advancement potential, job security and that it gives you a skill set you can take in many different directions.
There’s just one problem: You haven’t made your plan to actually start.
If there’s one thing that derails New Year's resolutions, it’s poor planning, so let’s make sure that you know exactly how to fit a coding bootcamp into your future.
What Kind of Coding?
The first thing you need to consider is what and where you want to code. Is there a specific company putting out software that you find interesting or useful? Have you been intrigued by people talking about C# and Unity in game development? What kind of work do you want to end up doing?
Pick some companies that interest you, and find out what kind of coding actually goes on there. Are they using C# and .NET? Are they focusing on Node and [React](https://reactjs.org/? Maybe they’re working on next-gen code development?
TrueCoders provides training in two areas: Full Stack Software Engineering and Full Stack Web Development. The Software Engineering track includes C#, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, CSS and ASP.NET MVC. The Web Development track includes training in Node.js, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, CSS and React.js.
What is Best for You?
Once you have decided the kind of coding you want to learn, it’s time to think about how you want to learn it.
Our full-time course is great for people in flexible job positions, or for people between jobs. This option can get you into a coding position in as little as nine weeks. The daily instructor/student interactions also help keep you motivated and on track.
Keep in mind the full-time course is a big commitment; you will be in class Monday through Friday, five hours a day, for nine weeks.
If that won’t work for you, TrueCoders offers a self-paced course. You simply follow our lesson plans and instructional videos at your convenience. This option offers unlimited one-on-one instructor meetings, as well as 2 weekly (optional) group labs with other self-paced students. We recommend you keep yourself motivated by making friends in your self-paced class and joining a student led study group. Keep each other on track and don’t skip the weekly labs if possible.
The Cost of Coding Bootcamps
We try to make payment as hassle-free as possible by offering a discount for payment upfront, an income share agreement, or working with you to space out payments through one of our third-party installment plans. Here are the details of our three payment options.
Well Worth the Effort
The key to sticking with any New Year’s resolution is planning out your roadmap.
Coding can be a great road to travel, but you have to be the one who decides to walk it. Once you do, TrueCoders will do everything we can to prepare you for the software engineering world.
